Responsibilities
Position Summary
•Prime responsibility for the implementation of new & modified manufacturing processes on the shop floor including specification, design, installation, commissioning and ongoing daily support with a heavy focus on automation.
•To identify and execute shop floor improvements on existing lines resulting in significant improvements to output and/or costs.
•To provide technical support for the following shop floor processes & equipment: Hot Forging (hammers, upsetters, benders, presses), machining & assembly, robotics (Fanuc, ABB), and welding.
Responsibilities
•Champion new automation projects
•Methodical analysis & implementation of cost-improvement projects
•Daily support of the shop floor for forging, machining, assembly, welding, heat treating, shearing, threading
•Maintain proper documentation during the execution of projects to support ISO requirements
•Manage tooling vendors & provide support for tooling issues (hammer forge tool design & forging simulation analysis/optimization).
•Support plant level departments (manufacturing, quality, maintenance) to meet plant goals
•Perform studies and reviews on various projects as required
Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience
•Engineering Degree or Engineering Technologist Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on manufacturing/process engineering shop floor experience
•Experience in forging, shearing, induction heating, robotics, threading, machining, welding & heat treating is considered a significant advantage
•ISO / IATF exposure is considered an advantage
•Good working knowledge of 3D CAD software(Solidworks) is an advantage
•Proven experience in continuous improvement projects is a must
•Self-starter with a strong bias for action is required
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
