Location Burnaby - in office first 6 months then hybrid after training
Responsibilities
• Minimum 8 years as geotechnical engineer in British Columbia and collaborate well working in a multi-discipline team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills – written test will be administered during interview
• Thorough knowledge and experience in design related to Distribution plant including U/G and O/H - may include feasibility studies, preliminary design, detailed design, field work, etc.
• Thorough knowledge and experience in assessment and mitigation of site conditions related to Distribution plant including U/G and O/H - including slope stability, slide risk, erosion, etc.
• Thorough working knowledge of common industry analysis and design software
• Thorough understanding of safety in the field / thorough understanding of environmental effects and impacts of existing conditions, construction activities, and permanent installations

• Registered P.Eng. (geotechnical discipline with good understanding of civil infrastructure in public) in good standing with EGBC
• Current confined space entry training
• PSSP 2, 3, and DBC (can be provided by company)
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver License - must be willing to travel including by car, plane, and boat
Must haves:
Must be independent and work effectively with minimal interaction.
Must be knowledgeable and comfortable using the latest remote working technologies to correspond and collaborate with project stakeholders.
Must be able to work from home efficiently and effectively if required by company.
Must be willing to work from office in Burnaby 5 days in the office during training (potentially first 6-7 months)
-The role will switch to hybrid (2 days in the office after training).
Nice to haves:
Experience with and working in Canadian electric utility
Experience with and working in proximity to energized electric plant
Experience in coordination with other utilities in public
Familiar with temporary shoring methods
Familiar with working in public environment
Familiar with permitting processes for utilities in public
Familiar with environmental, archeological, and properties aspects of civil engineering projects
