Responsibilities
Review and understand welding process specifications to ensure proper techniques are applied
Operate manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated welding machines to meet production requirements
Read and interpret welding blueprints, technical drawings, manuals, and process specifications to ensure accuracy in work
Utilize manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment to cut materials as required
Operate a variety of metalworking machines, including brakes, shears, and other machines for shaping, straightening, and bending metal
Set up and operate brazing or soldering machines to join metals and repair seams, holes, and indentations
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on welding, brazing, and soldering equipment to ensure optimal performance

Oxy-Acetylene Welding (OAW): Use of a torch to melt and join metals, typically for repair work or thinner materials.
Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW): Manual arc welding using a consumable electrode, commonly known as stick welding, for a variety of applications.
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) (TIG): Precision welding process utilizing a non-consumable tungsten electrode to weld thin sections of stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals.
Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW): Often referred to as MIG welding, it uses a continuous solid wire electrode and shielding gas to weld a variety of metals and thicknesses.
Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW): Similar to GMAW but uses a tubular wire filled with flux to create the weld pool, ideal for thick metals and outdoor work.
Plasma Arc Welding (PAW): Utilizes a plasma torch to create a high-temperature arc to weld, providing precision on both thin and thick metals.
Submerged Arc Welding (SAW): A welding process where the arc is submerged under a blanket of flux, used for high-quality welds on thick materials and large components.
