Responsibilities
- Build large switchboard structures and subassemblies using pre-fabricated metal parts (steel and copper), following engineering schematics and electrical drawings.
- Mount and brace horizontal and vertical bus, risers and bus supports inside structures in sequential order.
- Use a variety of manufacturing equipment, high power torque tools, jigs/fixtures and fabrication machines such as punch presses and band saws.
- Construct pallets following engineering design requirements.
- Ensure strong assembly fundamentals are used at all times (ie., use of proper hardware, applying correct torque, using consistent fastening methods, checking tool calibration).
- Identify design issues in mechanical and electrical schematics and raise them through the correct channels.
- Visually inspect parts and material before and after assembly for conformance to drawings, quality standards and customer specifications, and make mechanical adjustments as needed.
- Check parts picked/delivered to those required using the bill of materials, resolving issues with the Team Lead.
- Repair or rework issues detected during the inspection/test stage of the job.
- Cross-train and backfill other employees/job functions when necessary.
- Work to CSA and UL code.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the internal kanban and MRB processes.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
• Able to read, write and speak basic English without help from an interpreter.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; able to pass a background check to this effect.
• Minimum 2 years experience in mechanical assembly using power tools.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and models.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship now and in the future.
No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must reside within 80 KM of Milton, ON to be considered.
• Post-secondary education or a technical certificate in a mechanical trade.
• Experience using Outlook, ADP, Oracle and Inventor.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes and Six Sigma Tools.
