Responsibilities
•Become familiar with design guidelines, standards, and regulations associated with structural engineering (specifically wood frame construction)
•Preparation of structural engineering design and documents ensuring accuracy, adequacy, and conformance to the design requirements
•Set up AutoCAD drawings as per the company’s standard
•Prepare AutoCAD drawings from sketches, mark-ups and/or design
•Manage project tasks within assigned time and budget constraints
•Maintain familiarity with current techniques, codes, and standards to sustain and improve technical skills
•Assist in researching new systems, resources, analytical processes, procedures and working practices to identify and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity, and overall profitability
•Coordinate with other team members on various projects at the same time to achieve project milestones
•Work within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completion
•Coordinate structural aspects of projects with other discipline designs and drawings
•When required, complete site investigations, general reviews of construction, and preparation of field review reports
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s in Structural Engineering from an accredited Canadian University or equivalent required
•Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers of Ontario required
•Knowledge of OBC (specifically part 9)
•Experience with wood frame construction
•Proficient with AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams); Experience with Woodworks considered an asset
•Strong knowledge of construction materials and practices or construction work experience considered an asset
•Ability to coordinate multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
•Access to vehicle for site review/inspections
