Responsibilities
• planning, Implementing, and daily operations of the F5 Web Access Firewall (WAF).
• implementing, modernizing, managing and supporting our network infrastructure, along with proactive monitoring, analysis and reporting.
• achieve a high availability IT network infrastructure and IT network services in accordance with Service Level Agreements.
• hands-on implementation, upgrading, trouble-shooting of network software and hardware infrastructure.
• manage and prioritize workload. Check and balance the workload against the team requirements, to result in a service delivery model characterized by cross-training, workload sharing and collaborative team effort.
• effective teamwork and proficient communication with team members and supported ministries.
• lead and/or participate in networking projects, and plan, design, implement, support and document best practices.
• participate and contribute to cross-function IT projects by providing technical IT networking know-how and expertise.
• perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution.
• plan for software and hardware upgrades and/or migrations.
• develop and maintain documentation.
• develop network related procedures.
• provide cross training and knowledge transfer to team members.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field of study.
• Active F5 Certification such as F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator (F5-CA) or F5 Certified Technical Specialist (F5-CTS), and a copy of the certification must be included in the submission.
• 8 years of experience in direct involvement in developing best-practices documentation, such as operational procedures and network diagrams.
• 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure architecture and the relationships among the components that make up an IT service, from end-user devices to servers, networks, storage, applications, and data.
• 8 years of experience in migrating, upgrading, and optimizing F5 BIG-IP systems.
• 8 years of experience with Cisco layer 1-3 technologies, including the planning, design, and implementation of an intermediate to large-scale network infrastructure.
• 8 years of experience with traffic management, troubleshooting application delivery issues, and optimizing load balancing for high availability and performance.
• 8 years of experience in demonstrating a good understanding of network concepts, routing and switching, and firewall security policy management.
• 8 years of experience in extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with F5 BIG-IP LTM, BIG-IP DNS, and iRule development.
• 8 years of experience in demonstrating good knowledge of TCP/IP, IP routing, LAN and WAN protocols, HTTP/S understanding as it pertains to packet inspection and TCP flow in network and application flows.
• 8 years of experience in strong L2-L3 troubleshooting skills, including analyzing TCP dumps and understanding basic networking concepts.
Desirable Requirements
• 5 years of experience in preparing and presenting comprehensive information to technical teams, management, and proponents, including assessment notes, geospatial maps, logical network design diagrams, and presentations.
• 5 years of experience in providing customer service technical troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• 5 years of experience in using advanced oral and verbal communication skills with staff at all levels of an organization to address the value of service design.
• 5 years of experience with Alberta SuperNet or a similar network.
• 5 years of experience with IPv6, including the planning, design, and implementation of intermediate to large-scale network infrastructures.
• 5 years of experience with networking aspects of Microsoft Windows desktop, servers, and nix-based servers.
• 3 years of experience in working in or for the public sector.
