Responsibilities
Execute mechanical engineering activities within a scope of work that includes everything from conceptual design development through to detailed design, procurement support, construction support and commissioning, depending on the needs of the client.
In collaboration with the Mechanical Engineering Lead, develop and direct project plans that maintain technical excellence, budget, schedule, and contractual requirements.
Actively participate in multi-discipline projects, including developing deliverables from concept through calculations and detailed design, and final / stamped issue.
Actively engage directly with clients to understand their requirements and expectations and deliver top quality solutions.
Develop, review and stamp piping isometrics.
Specify procurement requirements for equipment and assist with procurement as needed (typically vessels, pumps, etc.).
Work with and develop piping and equipment specifications as needed.
Develop Engineering Work Packages.
Manage project budgets ensuring work is completed according to the defined contractual scope and execution strategy.
Provide additional support as needed including collaborating with other disciplines (process, electrical, structural) to deliver well-rounded solutions to clients.
Review and provide input to the Design team on technical drawings.
Actively engage directly with clients to understand their requirements and expectations and deliver top quality solutions.
Support business development activities such as liaising with clients as a representative of the company and identifying, developing, and maintaining professional connections to enhance and maintain business for the company.
Identify potential project opportunities to grow the business.
Report to the Mechanical Engineering Lead on progress of work and assist in mentorship and technical guidance of more junior team members.
Stamp and issue drawings and calculations, following standards and procedures.
Demonstrate commitment to safety, and lead by example.
Travel to the field for project scoping, verification, construction support and meeting with clients as needed.
Qualifications
Graduate of a recognized university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline, or equivalent. Professional Engineering designation or eligible for registration with APEGA.
Preference will be given to a candidate with more than 15 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in a consulting environment; however, team fit is most important.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs used to create reports and documents.
Experience with ASME and API standards for piping and equipment.
Experience with rotating and static equipment is considered an asset.
Experience with CAD design software is considered an asset.
Experience performing static and/or dynamic stress analysis is considered an asset.
Experience with HVAC systems and applicable standards is considered an asset.
Experience with pressure vessel design and alteration is considered an asset.
Site/field based industrial work experience is considered an asset.
Summary
This position requires a candidate with strong experience with EPCM companies serving the Oil/Gas Industry.
