Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting and Analysis, your duties and responsibilities will include;
-Evaluate, develop, and implement financial systems, policies, and internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting principles and maintain the integrity of financial data
-Analyze job costs, gross profit margins, and key financial metrics to identify trends and optimize performance
-Deliver detailed cost analysis and provide recommendations to senior management to support strategic planning
-Assist in preparing year-end financial statements and working papers for external audits, as well as overseeing annual inventory counts
-Generate monthly management reports, financial forecasts, annual budgets, and long-term financial plans
-Consolidate and interpret financial data (e.g., budgets and income statement forecasts) in alignment with corporate goals
-Identify opportunities to reduce costs and enhance financial performance through innovative strategies
-Structure complex financial reports which summarize business risks, historical trends, and future projections
-Build financial models, conduct benchmarking, and analyze processes to improve financial decision-making
-Study historical performance and industry trends to develop reliable financial forecasts
-Provide actionable insights to senior analysts and executives based on thorough financial analysis
-Track financial performance by comparing actual results to forecasts and investigating variances
-Ensure data accuracy by verifying and reconciling transactions, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrections
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning, reporting, and operational efficiency
-Stay informed on industry advancements, financial best practices, and regulatory changes to continuously enhance expertise
Qualifications
-Minimum 3 years of experience in financial analysis, reporting, or a related role within the construction or heavy manufacturing industries
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, or a related field
-CPA designation (or in progress) is preferred
-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and SQL is required
-Experience working with ERP systems is considered an asset
-Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and its relevance to financial operations
-Ability to assess the financial impact on product and service quality for end customers
-Commitment to delivering high-quality work within budget and timelines.
-Proactive approach to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
