Responsibilities
· Develop strategic plans for tenders and ensure competitiveness
· Lead the preparation of accurate estimates, bid documents, and written proposals
· Understand and engage in design/build, ADP, and build to spec contracts
· Interpret project drawings, specifications, and related documentation accurately and promptly
· Create preliminary project schedules and perform quantity take-offs from drawings
· Generate detailed estimates using cost history and past experience with estimating software
· Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, and review junior estimators' work
· Support project management in forecasting and costing for potential changes
· Manage bid document distribution and follow up on customer proposals
· Cultivate relationships with existing and new suppliers and subcontractors
· Attend site visits, pre-bid, and pre-award meetings as required
· Chair post-award meetings and attend pre-construction meetings to support project startup
· Negotiate major purchase and subcontract agreements, review purchase orders and subcontract documents
Qualifications
·6+ years of Civil Estimating expertise in heavy civil transportation or bridge projects
·Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of Bluebeam an asset
·Proficient in interpreting construction documents and technical material
·Familiarity with Heavy Bid estimating software or equivalent systems is advantageous
·Valid driver’s license
