Responsibilities
- Lead the report conversion activities from BOEXI to Power BI reports estimated up to 900 for 2025-26 fiscal year.
- Supports Client’s wide-ranging business information requirements, implementing and supporting business intelligence software solutions.
- Develops and supports customized query applications which analyze key business data.
- Develops and supports guided analysis and drill-down functionality, routine scheduling and notification of report generation, and effective implementation of “opportunity” and “key-trend” alerts.
- Provides Clients with approach options and tools for managing business-related data in a manner that assists in quantitative analysis of progress and the relationship between operational actions and their effect on business objectives.
- Conduct workshops and requirements-gathering sessions with clients on BI & Data Analytics Initiative.
- Conduct data integration, data cleansing, data modeling and analytics.
- Develop feedback processes to fix corrupt data in the source systems.
Qualifications
Must Haves:
- Experience using Power BI and other data visualization tools to create reports and dashboards, perform data exploration, and manage datasets.
- Expertise designing interactive and visually appealing reports and dashboards using Power BI Desktop, including selecting appropriate visualizations and arranging elements for clarity.
- Experience in performing DAX formulas and functions for performing calculations, aggregations, and custom calculations in Power BI.
- Understanding of good UI design in delivering rich user experience by creating custom visuals and themes in Power BI to enhance report aesthetics and functionality.
General Skills:
- Experience analyzing data in source systems to identify data cleanliness issues (e.g. missing values, duplicate meanings, and invalid data).
- Experience developing feedback processes to fix corrupt data in the source systems.
- Experience developing data extraction, transformation, and load programs (daily and initial load) functionality on a wide range of data repositories (structured and semi-structured files, relational and multi-dimensional data stores).
- Experience developing, implementing and maintaining schedule/dependency logic for Extract Transform Load (ETL) scripts.
- Experience developing monitoring and error notification processes to ensure data is updated as designed.
- Experience developing automation extraction, cleansing and load scripts.
- Experience designing visual dashboards to highlight trends and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and developing canned reports (scheduled and ad-hoc).
- Proven troubleshooting and analytical experience.
- Experience in process decomposition/mapping and business process re-engineering and complex data models using UML.
- Experience in the use of development tools and business re-engineering software.
- Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. business, logical, and physical models) based on Enterprise Application Processes and Modeling methodology and guidelines.
- Experience with the Microsoft suite of technology, including: Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, and Power BI.
- Experience with data modeling and design principles for data marts and data warehouses.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge and experience in developing data analysis applications.
- Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices.
- Ability to provide expert advice in developing and integrating process and information models to enable identifying and eliminating redundant business processes.
- Experience with developing monitoring and error notification processes to ensure data is updated as designed.
- Hands-on experience working with stakeholders to develop and document interface specifications design between Business Intelligence solutions and external applications.
- Extensive experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modelling tools like Power Designer and Visio.
- Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.
