Responsibilities
Deliverables:
- Support existing AIX, Solaris, and RedHat Linux servers;
- Integrate new physical and virtual servers;
- Support AIX, Solaris, and RedHat Linux on-premise and in the cloud;
- Take part in the solutioning and build process to ensure a smooth transition to Data Center Operations once complete;
- Provide subject matter expertise in GoCloud environment for AIX, Solaris, and RedHat Linux; and
- Train, and perform knowledge transfer with staff, and assist with development of shared tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead projects such as migrating Solaris LDOM's from old to new hosts;
- Lead Red Hat upgrades from 7 to 8 to 9 for 1200 VMs;
- Lead Patch and Automation compliance activities;
- Lead the transition from on-premise UNIX to GoCloud, while transferring knowledge to existing team members;
- Support and implement approved changes to existing servers/infrastructure;
- Work with clients and vendors on any issues or changes as required;
- Work with team and solutions/build on refreshes, expansions and new infrastructure being deployed as required;
- Perform acceptance process as new infrastructure is transitioned from Solutions/Build team to Data Center Operations;
- Educate the rest of the team and prepare operational documentation for new technologies being added;
- Provide SME advice and experience to help guide solutions while keeping it's operational support in mind; and
- Provide SME advice and work with all teams on continuous service improvement and GoCloud support operations.
Qualifications
- 10+ years experience providing oversight to support Red Hat Linux, AIX, and Solaris infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing refresh and transition activities, as well as team resources associated with the migration.
- Demonstrated experience with the replacement of large enterprise complex services and hardware at large critical locations.
- Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of modern Data Centre service models combined with a solid background in contemporary Data Centre approaches.
- Demonstrated experience with assisting transition and refresh.
- Demonstrated experience in change management activities.
- Demonstrated ability for strong documentation and writing skills.
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience in complex projects related to data center uplifts, and migrations.
