Responsibilities
- Gather and develop requirements to create and maintain a detailed project schedule and/or integrated plan.
- Experience developing and managing project schedules, deliverables, and scope.
- Ability to promote I&IT project management best practices and adherence to standard methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience directing project teams to ensure project deliverables are delivered on time and adhere to government and ministry standards.
- Extensive experience coordinating and monitoring project processes, and developing/communicating guidelines and procedures.
- Resolve resourcing and inter-personal conflicts, negotiate changes to resourcing, ensure knowledge is shared among team members such as project objectives and deliverables are met.
- Effectively manages large project budgets and ensures a high level of fiscal control and accountability including estimates, gating, forecasts, and reconciliation/confirmation of actuals.
- Proactively identifies potential risk events and issues before they occur so that proper mitigating strategies can be developed.
- Articulates and prioritizes issues and risks at senior executive levels and recommends mitigation strategies for decision makers.
Qualifications
Project Management Skills
- Project Management experience (as appropriate to the specified experience and level) and use of Project Management software (as appropriate to the specified experience level).
- Knowledge of latest developments and leading practices in the project management industry and profession, (e.g. PMBOK®) and familiarity with best practices in other industries, sectors or jurisdictions related to project management methodologies.
- Experience in the development and implementation of project management processes, plans, and communication tools.
- Experience in creating portfolio plans, monitoring project performance against project plans and generating progress reports using earned value or similar techniques.
- Experience in Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies.
- An experienced individual with a proven track record for meeting strict deadlines and supporting cross-functional teams to ensure work on tasks/milestones remains within time and cost constraints.
- Knowledge of OPS Integrated Project Management Framework and Methodology.
Communication/Soft Skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and distributing project updates, progress reports to project stakeholder while managing expectations pertaining to scope and timeline constraints.
- Demonstrated experience communicating across many functional areas to actively engage project stakeholders and manage client expectations with diverse interests, technical and non- technical backgrounds using the appropriate level of political acuity and messaging for the audience.
- Strong discipline in resolving resourcing and inter-personal conflicts, ensures knowledge is shared among team members to achieve project objectives.
Stakeholder Management & Leadership
- Able to establish and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Able to communicate in business language and with technology expertise.
- Able to appropriately assign work packages to assigned resources and manage to ensure timely and quality delivery.
