Responsibilities
Develops, recommends, implements and manages the technical architecture (hardware, software, database and communications) which will be used for all or specific applications in a large, distributed cross-platform environment. Responsibilities also include the identification of relevant information and the determination of the environment, which will be used for development.

Qualifications
General Skills
- Leadership experience in the development and implementation of technical architectures at the specified experience level;
- Extensive experience with at least three different platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, and communications protocols;
- Experience with middleware and gateways;
- Knowledge of performance considerations in different environments;
- Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development and implementation of applications;
- Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments;
- Knowledge and experience designing processes around ITIL and is able to guide others using this methodology;
- Experience translating business requirements into reporting needs;
- Experience preparing conceptual, logical and/or physical processes and data models;
- Experience developing, recommending, implementing and managing technical architecture;
- Experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and other software tools such as project management tools;
- Awareness of emerging technologies, trends and directions;
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills;
- A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines;
- Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. models); and

Desirable Skills
- Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. models) based on Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture processes and practice;
- Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Content Management (Open Text ECM applications); and
- Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices.

The Services and Deliverables to be provided by the candidate will include the following:
- Provide Middleware development and operations support for ECIS solution running IBM IHS, WebSphere and TRIRIGA;
- Provide Oracle database and infrastructure support for Report and Validation (RV) data warehouse system;
- Provide Oracle database and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) support to various data warehouse system;
- Solution design and architect for system and data integration;
- Lead the planning of DDSB Server OS upgrade for Windows, Solaris and Linux servers;
- Lead the planning and execution of Oracle upgrade and migration project(s);
- Participate in planning activities and solution design; complete all required change request assessment tasks, Design Workbook and WIA; participate in DDSB and ITS release management activities;
- Perform capacity planning, database monitoring and performance tuning to all Oracle SQL Server databases;
- Provide support and solution design for Hadoop implementation;
- Provide daily DBA support for all databases running in Oracle 19c on various development, test, pre-production and production environments;
- Perform administrative tasks including but not limited to database backup and recovery, databases export and import, database maintenance, database management, monitoring database performance and tuning, etc;
- Update technical documentation including: Operation Manual documents, Technical Architecture documents, etc;
- Support RV SRSS implementation utilizing SQL Server 2016 database and Reporting Services; and
- Support web-enable antivirus file upload scanning server.

Other Experience and Skills:
- Technology Architect/Database Administrator must have the following skills and experience;
- Extensive working experience with solution design and architect for IBM TRIRIGA System, IBM WebSphere and I.H.S;
- Over 10 years of experience with Oracle Database (11gR2, 12cR2, 19c) and technology, including Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC);
- Over 10 years of UNIX (Solaris and Linux) and Windows Server experience;
- Over 10 years of experience supporting SQL Server (SQL Server 2016);
- Extensive working experience with solution design and architect for Single Sign-On solution utilizing OPS Go- Secure technology;
- Extensive working experience with solution design and architect for Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) and Oracle OBIEE;
- Extensive working experience with solution design and architect for system and data integration;
- Demonstrated working experience with solution design and architect for enterprise web- enable anti-virus file scanning solution;
- Demonstrated working experience with solution design and architect for large scale (20TB+) Business Intelligence applications;
- Demonstrated working experience with Hadoop software installation and configuration Infrastructure design including server commission, sizing and analysis for hardware and software;
- Previous public sector experience in an organization of equivalent size and complexity to the Ontario Public Service;
- Demonstrated working experience with large-sized and complex middleware operations support and technology infrastructure;
- Extensive working experience in the deployment/promotion of database and application codes to target environments (dev-test, UAT, Pre-PROD, PROD, Training and other environments);
- Extensive working experience in the troubleshooting of issues, incidents and problem solving;
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle database flashback technology;
- In-depth knowledge of database clustering solution and data guard technologies; and
- In-depth knowledge of database, OS and storage performance monitoring and tuning Knowledge of data warehouse related methodologies and processes.

Responsibilities include, but are limited to, the following:
- Establish the needs of users;
- Monitor user access and security;
- Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide front-end users with fast query responses;
- Map conceptual design for a planned database with outlines;
- Consider both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users Refine the logical design to be able to translate into a specific data model;
- Further refine physical design to meet system storage requirements;
- Installing and test new versions of the RDBMS;
- Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act;
- Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata);
- Control access permissions and privileges;
- Develop, manage, and test back-up and recovery plans;
- Ensure that storage, archiving, back-up, and recovery procedures are function correctly Capacity planning;
- Work closely with IT project managers, database programmers, and multimedia programmers;
- Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security;
- Decommission and install new applications; and
- Customize existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose.

Required Knowledge / Skills
Key deliverables to be performed by the senior (level 3) Technology Architect include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Demonstrated working experience with IBM TRIRIGA 3.7.x/10.7.x, WebSphere and I.H.S installation, configuration and cloning;
- Demonstrated working experience with IBM TRIRIGA Application Upgrade;
- Demonstrated working experience with Oracle Data Integrator 12.x installation, upgrade, migration, cloning and administration;
- Demonstrated working experience with Hadoop Installation and configuration on Linux RedHat;
- Demonstrated working experience with Oracle 19c database migration;
- Demonstrated working experience with SQL Server 2016 and SSRS implementation;
- Demonstrated working experience with solution design and architect for system and data integration;

- Solid experience in hardware and system software infrastructure architecture design;
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle Database, clustering, flashback and Dataguard technologies; and
- Knowledge of database performance monitoring and tuning.
