Responsibilities
- Analysis of business requirement documents and liaison with clients.
- Facilitating IT development, design, construction, testing, promotion, implementation of web-based/n-tier, cloud-based and mainframe applications
- Responsible for Java based development utilizing a combination of WebSphere, JDBC, Oracle, DB2, DataPower and associated Web technologies including JavaScript and JSP
- Responsible for in integration of Open Source Software (OSS) products into new and existing systems
- Creation and walk-through of Systems Response documents, Technical Specifications, Application Inventory, and Implementation Plans.
- Preparation of test plans, test data, and unit-testing of programs.
- Preparation of implementation plans and promotion of programs.
- System Support/Documentation
- As assigned, response to client queries and troubleshooting of production incidents.
- Conduct/participate in design walkthroughs as well as test case and test results walkthroughs.
- Support testing of the changes by other team members.
- Weekly reporting on status, progress, and key issue/concerns as directed by the Project Lead/Project Manager or Portfolio Manger
- Participate in business requirements walkthroughs before being promoted into production
- Perform assigned system, iteration, acceptance, regression, volume, performance, post implementation and/or user acceptance testing tasks
- Analyze business requirements documentation including Use Cases and non-functional requirements.
- Contribute to the testing strategy and create systems test plan and test suites (including test cases).
- Analyze test data requirements and create appropriate test data to support the test strategy.
- Verify actual results meet expected results. Examine test databases using SQL. Analyze and log test results. Document and monitor resolution of system variances using an automated problem management system.
- Provide recommendations to the Project Manager as to the acceptance or rejection of any changed system components.
- Weekly reporting on status, progress, and key issue/concerns as directed by the Project Lead or Sr. Project Manager.
- Transfer skills and knowledge to selected OPS staff.
- The resource may be required to do similar work related to the role, for other initiatives within PRS, as directed by the manager.
Qualifications
- 7+ years experience in Java based development utilizing a combination of WebSphere, JDBC, Oracle, DB2, DataPower and associated Web technologies including JavaScript and JSP
- 5+ years experience in integration of Open Source Software (OSS) products into new and existing systems
- Experience in development and design of new mid-tier applications or enhancement to existing ones in a DevOPS focused environment (current environment: IBM WebSphere – Java EE – Oracle and DB2 / new environment: Angular or React.js – Java SpringBoot – Cloud computing).
- Preparation of automated deployment builds (Jenkins)
- Experience in structured, agile and DevOp methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications.
- Experience with COTS based Business Automation and Case Management solutions (ie: IBM Cloud Pack for Business Automation)
- Experience with one or more platforms, including the operating system, database technology, communication protocols, middleware and gateways
- Experience developing or maintaining large scale IT systems, including high-volume public facing programs
- Development and design of new programs or enhancements to existing ones
- Integration of service API’s and micro-services to existing or new web services.
- Ability to understand and analyze business requirements, and to design structured programs that efficiently satisfy these requirements
- Ability to write programs that are modular, well-structured, and easy to maintain
- Demonstrated success writing system design and implementation documents
- Experience with, and understanding of, relational databases (DB2, Oracle, MS-SQL)
- Preparation of test plans, test data, and unit-testing of programs
- Preparation of implementation plans and promotion of modules
- Participate in business requirements walkthroughs
- Conduct/participate in design walkthroughs
- Conduct/participate in testing walkthroughs
