Responsibilities
-Individuals within the Quality Assurance job family are responsible for all activities
relating to the strategy, methodologies and tools which enable IT to provide the
highest quality products and services to its business clients.
-Quality Managers are expected to define, select and implement standards,
methodologies and tools appropriate to the relevant activities and areas within IT.
They should be familiar with organization and industry benchmarks, practices and
trends and should be able to quantify business benefits from their adoption.
-They are responsible for defining, gathering and analyzing relevant metrics to
support decisions and recommendations related to Quality and for monitoring
compliance. They provide education and training in the use and the benefit of the
appropriate tools and methodologies, and champion their use at all levels.
-Some members of this job family are actively involved in the use of Quality tools
and methods within the technology development cycle as a member of specific
project teams. These activities include the definition and execution of unit, system,
integration and performance test plans.
-Quality Managers must combine a focus on excellence and attention to detail with
their specialist Quality Management expertise. They must also possess
significant interpersonal skills to influence and engage colleagues in the adoption
of Quality practices.
-May lead a work group in areas / domains including multiple complex projects or
a strategic highly complex project -Has decision making authority to deliver on the
goals of the department -Advanced specialization in one or more areas of
expertise; applies expertise internally and organization wide -Leads a section,
function or project team with significant impact on business results or acts as a
technical consultant.
-Drives highly complex Quality Management, Testing, and Knowledge
Management.
-Contributes to department, organization and industry wide Quality and Testing
strategies and procedures.
-Accountable for accuracy of project budget, estimates for assigned work area -
Ambassador for the department, including at Director and limited VP levels -
Monitors department progress (including Go / No Go decision)
-Oversees day to day delivery and management of testing operations, including
general direction for assigned work area & off-shore resources.
-Oversees test readiness reviews.
-Ensures project compliance with industry best practices / lessons learned.
-Ensures overall quality & schedule adherance for projects / releases within
assigned work area.
-Leads, manages and guides team through large-scale testing efforts.
-Allocates appropriate managers to projects / releases.
-Manages all directly assigned and direct report work activities within assigned
work area -Leads in the development and implementation of structured testing
concepts, methodologies and automated testing tools.
-Leads, manages and guides test plan development (test schedule, test
environment, data, regression requirements, test case development, etc.).
-Oversees test strategy and plan risk assessments, and acts accordingly.
-Contributes and facilitates test environment definition and coordinate environment
SW deployments.
-Guides, develops / contributes to Test Strategy documentation.
-Participates and leads in selection of testing tools and approaches.
-Serves as professional and technical authority to other project team members in
relevant work procedures, methodologies, environments and applications.
-Oversees on test artifacts (test cases, test scripts and associated
documentation).
-Oversees development of regression test requirements for assigned work area.
-Oversees regression baseline adjusted completed projects, including type of
regression required related types of changes.
-Facilitates and oversees test data requirements, capture and conditioning.
-Oversees test execution and reporting (Defect identification and monitoring).
-Compiles, distributes & presents project / release level test reports (test results,
including, defects and statistics).
-Trains, motivates, and mentors peers throughout ITS.
-Identifies areas for automation (including ROI).
-Facilitates QMS & recommends improvements.
-Escalates outstanding or critical issues to ensure test / project success.
-Maintains and promotes effective communication with all project/release work
streams.
-Analyzes work results and forwards conclusions to appropriate parties.
-Ensures procedures and standards fit project's needs and verifies usability for
performing reviews and audits throughout the software life cycle.
-Facilitates areas for automation (including ROI).
-Oversees areas of security vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation.
-Ensures compliance with financial corporate policies.
-Effectively manages expenses and approves opportunities to reduce operating
costs / increase revenue.
-Supports HR process and selects team members.
Qualifications
Experience and Education Preferred:
-Undergraduate degree. Graduate degree, preferred.
-7-10 years experience in testing and quality assurance.
-Leadership experience, preferred.
-Proficient with QA methodologies, software testing principles, concepts,verification, validation methods, test & risk management.
-Core telecom, internet, and cable business knowledge is an asset.
-Exposure to a wide variety of technologies.
-Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products.
