Responsibilities
The Process Engineer will develop and implement process improvements to ensure safety, quality, cost, and efficiency requirements are met.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing existing processes and implementing optimizations
- Introducing new standards and procedures to ensure consistent quality
- Supporting plant initiatives: EHS, Quality, TPM, Capital and Expense Planning
- Identifying equipment upgrades and replacements to support quality operations
- Developing and managing Process Engineering initiatives, including SOCs, QA testing, and methodology.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Interface with floor personnel to improve operational uptime and resolve technical issues.
2. Review and manage process conditions, line conditions, and Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs).
3. Support quality and continuous improvement initiatives through technical analysis and recommendations.
4. Provide mentoring and training to operators, laboratory personnel, and interns.
5. Optimize First Pass Material Yield, Throughput, and reduce downtime and scrap.
6. Develop and implement process improvement programs, lean manufacturing initiatives, and technical training.
7. Investigate new methods to improve plant performance and ensure effective training documentation.
8. Support capital projects, customer visits, and quality investigations.
Overall Goal: Improve operational efficiency, quality, and safety while reducing costs and downtime.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in a Technical Discipline
- 2-5 years of experience as a Process Engineer or in film extrusion
Key Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of polyolefin resins and processing (asset)
- Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment and ASTM methods
- Project management skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
- High level of computer literacy in MS Windows and MS Office applications
Work Requirements:
- Regular, reliable attendance
- Willingness to work outside regular schedule as required
- Ability to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace
- Availability for 24-hour "on-call" operation- For emergencies
