Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and oversee production operations, ensuring timely equipment setup and smooth workflow.
- Communicate with other departments to resolve issues related to inventory shortages, lead times, and work instructions.
- Maintain responsibility for quality, productivity, delivery performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Delegate work orders to maximize efficiency and employee capabilities.
- Hire, train, and deploy staff while ensuring proper staffing levels and scheduling.
- Provide clear direction on priorities, expectations, and performance standards.
- Ensure employees receive proper training on equipment use and production techniques.
- Promote and enforce a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulations.
- Oversee employee scheduling, including shift rotations, vacations, and overtime assignments.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and process optimization.
- Assist in resolving operational challenges and recommend productivity and quality improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and HR procedures including progressive discipline when necessary.
- Manage reporting and documentation, including production reports, attendance tracking, and quality control records.
- Oversee and maintain quality control standards, including measurements and material testing.
Qualifications
- You have at least 5 years experience in a management role in a manufacturing setting
- Experience within a welding environment and you have knowledge of MIG and TIG processes
- Strong consideration to those who have experience in the architectural, engineered, nuclear and forestry industries
- You have a proven track record of successfully managing and improving manufacturing operations
- You have excellent communication, leadership and team management skills
- You have a proven understanding of LEAN manufacturing (or other similar methodologies)
- You have a strong record of managing projects in a quick-paced environment
- You are computer literate - MS office, and ERP experience
- This is an active role where you will be required to be on the floor often, so you are physically able to walk for long periods, lift up to 40lbs, and able to work in a loud environment
