Responsibilities
Pharmacy Lead or Supervisor - Future Opportunities - Canada
As a Pharmacy Lead or Pharmacy Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing pharmacy operations in one of our pharmacy clients' various settings (including community, long-term care, specialty, addictions, treatment, central fill, mail order, or online pharmacies). Responsibilities will vary depending on the specific role and setting but typical responsibilities include:
1. Team Leadership and Supervision
• Oversee and direct the work of pharmacy staff (which may include pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, and technicians).
• Provide training, mentorship, and possibly be involved in performance evaluations to ensure staff adherence to professional standards and best practices.
2. Workflow and Operational Efficiency
• Coordinate daily operations to optimize workflow, ensure timely prescription processing, and meet service standards.
• Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain operational consistency and compliance.
3. Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance
• Ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations, pharmacy accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
• Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks to maintain patient safety and minimize errors.
4. Inventory and Supply Chain Management
• Manage procurement, inventory levels, and controlled substances, ensuring appropriate stock levels and minimizing waste or shortages.
• Collaborate with suppliers and wholesalers to ensure timely replenishment and cost efficiency.
5. Patient Care and Customer Service Oversight
• Monitor and enhance patient care services, including prescription counseling, medication reviews, and health management programs.
• Resolve escalated customer or patient concerns promptly and professionally.
6. Collaboration with Stakeholders
• Work closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and patient care coordination.
• Represent the pharmacy in professional or community forums when required.
7. Performance Monitoring and Reporting
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as prescription volumes, patient satisfaction scores, and financial metrics.
• Prepare and present regular reports to management, highlighting achievements and identifying areas for improvement.
8. Health and Safety Management
• Enforce workplace health and safety protocols to create a secure environment for staff and patients.
• Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of medications, including hazardous or controlled drugs.
Other duties may also be involved, depending on the role and specific setting responsibilities.
Qualifications
Pharmacy Lead or Supervisor - Future Opportunities - Canada
- 2+ years of experience in a pharmacy assistant or pharmacy technician role, with direct experience overseeing/leading people or processes.
- Many lead and supervisor opportunities are in non-retail pharmacy settings - experience in a non-retail pharmacy setting is preferred but not required
- Proficiency in pharmacy software (Kroll, PCC, eMAR, or otherwise) is generally preferred by our clients.
- Must be legally entitled to work full-time hours in Canada for any employer
