Responsibilities
The Material Handler is responsible for the distribution of materials received by suppliers and the loading of finished goods to be shipped to the customer.
The Material Handler is responsible for the removal of pallets of Work in Process from the Print Cut Dept. and maintaining the Work in Process level for the Feeders in the Finishing Dept.
Material Handling duties include:
Load finished goods on the truck to be shipped to the customers.
Responsible for filling out/recording all product movement in BPCS system.
Unload materials received from suppliers and deliver them to the appropriate department.
Unload materials from railcars or trucks and place them in specified locations or stages at presses.
Remove skids of finished products from the finishing department and place them in plant warehouses or on trailers destined for offsite warehouses.
Inspect to make sure the skids are secure and wrapped properly.
Place rolls in line for presses as required to ensure constant operation
Communicate with the Distribution Supervisor, Warehouse Lead hand, and Cycle Counter to ensure proper placement of inventory and entry into the BPCS system.
Housekeeping duties will include:
Perform general maintenance of the warehouse or notify the maintenance department if necessary.
Change propane or forklift/clamp truck and fill oil as required.
Sweep and clean the warehouse floor.
Complete daily forklift inspection sheet.
Re-pile good quality skids outside.
SQF/Food Safety duties will include:
All Employees are empowered, and responsible for understanding and effectively implementing the documents and processes that they have been trained in. This includes taking appropriate actions to prevent Quality and Food Safety problems and notifying Supervisors and/or Managers if they have concerns about our cartons or our processes.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:
Must have a minimum of grade 12 education (or equivalent experience) is required
2-3 years of related experience operating a CLAMP Truck is required, lift truck, reach truck, or other material-handling equipment is an asset
Externally Recognized lift truck license is preferred
Basic computer skills - ability to learn computer applications (BPCS)
Good communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Safety conscious and observes all mobile equipment rules
Self-motivated: Capable of working independently without constant supervision.
Flexibility: Willingness to work rotating shifts and adapt to the needs of the business
Great asset if you have a previous background in paper or printing manufacturing background
