Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Process timely and accurate payroll for salary and hourly staff on a weekly basis for union and non-unionized employees.
Handle new hires, terminations, status changes, pay rate changes, and other employee data updates.
Respond to all payroll-related inquiries, both internal and external.
Prepare payroll journal entries for multiple companies.
Issue Records of Employment in a timely manner.
Monitor time-off policies and balances, ensuring accuracy.
Manage company vacation accruals and vacation policies.
Process and monitor garnishment orders.
Administer and reconcile employee benefits plans.
Ensure payroll is executed in accordance with union agreements.
Maintain and update payroll records across all platforms.
Create T4 slips, T2200s, year-end reconciliation, and distribution.
Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial government agencies in Canada.
Prepare and analyze month-end journal entries and accruals.
File monthly WSIB reports.
Conduct GL analysis on all payroll-related accounts.
Prepare periodic payroll reports.
Perform other accounting/payroll-related duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications:
A university degree in a business-related field is required; PCP certification is preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll.
Experience with UKG and ADP WFN software is beneficial.
Proactive work ethic with the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent people skills with a friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Strong attention to detail, analytical, and math skills.
