This position would involve data entry for employees time, processing employees leaves, and generating ROEs forms. This role is a 6 month contract with the opportunity to become permanent
The ideal candidate will 1-3 years have experience working within a payroll team and have experience with processing payroll for hourly and salary employees. The successful candidate will be working with a fun, team oriented group and have the opportunity to work hybrid once onboarding is complete.

Responsibilities
-Weekly payroll processing:
- Ensuring accurate calculation of hours worked, overtime, and union-specific benefits
- Review, verify, and reconcile timesheets and pay data for accuracy before processing payroll
-Union rate management
- Stay up to date on multiple union agreements and pay scales to ensure compliance with regulations and payroll calculations
- Collaborate effectively with union representatives regarding payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies
-Ensure compliance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), including minimum wage, overtime pay, public holidays and vacation pay
-Utilize Google Sheets and Excel for data entry, management, and reporting, ensuring security and accuracy of payroll data
-Develop and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and dashboards to provide insights on payroll and labour costs
-Prepare and submit mandatory payroll-related reports to government agencies, ensuring compliance with provincial tax regulations
-Respond to inquiries from employees regarding paychecks, deductions, and benefits
-Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and enhance accuracy through automation and improved reporting tools
-Additional administrative duties as required
Qualifications
-1-2 years of experience in a payroll or HR position
-Experience processing payroll in a union setting
-Intermediate skills with Excel (v-look up and Pivot tables) and Google Sheets
-Experience with payroll software is preferred
-Strong knowledge of Ontario's Employment Standards, labour laws and union pay structures
-Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
-Organizational and attention to detail skills required to perform activities in a deadline driven environment, working with constant interruptions
-Excellent communications skills, written and verbal
-Comfortable in a manufacturing environment
