Responsibilities
- Secure competitive ocean freight rates for import & export trades, ensuring optimal pricing and service levels.
- Oversee and maintain ocean contracts, ensuring compliance with FMC regulations and timely contract filings.
- Review, validate, and communicate ocean contract amendments across all offices to ensure alignment.
- Handle escalations with carriers, capacity protection, and agreements with suppliers. Address operational exceptions at the origin.
- Lead the review and negotiation of RFQs, securing favorable ocean freight rates and terms with carriers.
- Collaborate with peers within the team to implement carrier strategies that align with company objectives.
- Foster strong, win/win relationships with ocean carriers to ensure long-term partnerships.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years in ocean freight procurement
• Experience with a freight forwarder or ocean carrier is highly preferred.
• Detail oriented
• Bachelor's degree in Management, Business Administration, or Logistics Management is an asset.
• RMS CargoSpere and Cargo Wise experience is considered an asset
• Team player with good mentoring skills and a winning attitude
• Able to adapt and excel in a country level/corporate structure with matrix reporting
• Relationship focused and good commercial acumen
