Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Design Development: Develop conceptual and detailed designs for mechanical systems and components using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
Technical Drawings: Create accurate 2D and 3D drawings, models, and schematics based on engineering sketches, specifications, and discussions.
Documentation: Prepare and maintain documentation such as bills of materials (BOMs), design calculations, and technical reports.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to understand project requirements and contribute to design solutions.
Prototyping and Testing Support: Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototypes to validate designs and identify areas for improvement.
Quality and Compliance: Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, CSA) and meet quality and safety requirements.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in design reviews, provide feedback for process improvement, and stay updated on industry trends and advancements in mechanical design.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
Experience: Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer, preferably in industrial or manufacturing environments.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and familiarity with PLM software and ERP systems is advantageous.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Certifications: Professional certifications (e.g., CET, P.Eng) are an asset.
