Primary Responsibilities:
As a key contributor to safety programs and initiatives within the facility, the role involves overseeing related improvement actions, such as:
Ensuring that manufacturing processes, equipment, and products meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Performing health and safety audits, risk assessments, reviews, and inspections.
Working closely with plant leadership to develop and implement programs and strategies that protect employees from workplace hazards.
Leading investigations into complaints, accidents, and serious incidents, documenting findings and ensuring all data is entered into relevant plant, corporate, or government systems.
Promoting effective communication of safety performance and progress of safety programs to all team members.
Ensuring departmental KPIs (both leading and lagging) are defined and aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
Reviewing corporate scorecards and creating action plans to improve performance.
Overseeing the monitoring and enhancement of machine processes, creating work instructions, and training staff as needed.
Continuous Improvement Responsibilities:
Reviewing and improving manufacturing processes by prioritizing design changes and research.
Participating in projects to reduce downtime and scrap.
Assisting with the rollout of new production lines and equipment, including identifying training requirements.
Managing cost reduction projects (EIP).
Analyzing operational challenges affecting production efficiency and resolving them systematically.
Assisting with determining root causes for quality issues as required.
Validating the success and sustainability of implemented process improvements.
Providing training to operators, supervisors, and managers on new or revised processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
3+ years of experience in Engineering or Manufacturing.
Solid understanding of high-volume manufacturing operations.
Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and good manufacturing practices.
Knowledge of manufacturing and quality improvement techniques.
Self-motivated and able to work independently or within a team with minimal supervision.
Strong computer and data analysis skills; proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Experience with SAP and data analysis is advantageous.
Ability to identify challenges and implement innovative, strategic solutions to overcome them.
