Responsibilities
• Execute planning and delivery of Structural Engineering projects
• Occasionally act as a Project Manager
• Procure new projects and clients by identifying business development opportunities
• Manage day-to-day client interactions
• Managing project execution by providing direction to the project team, appropriately scheduling time and acting as main point of contact between internal and external project teams
• Managing project financials including invoicing, progress payment certificates, collecting accounts receivables and managing project budgets
• Oversee and develop detailed structural designs for a variety of structural engineering projects such as: commercial and industrial building structures, transportation facilities, structures for gas industry and power generation, underground water retention structures, retaining walls
• Perform complex engineering calculations and designs based on engineering principles
• Day-to-day management of Industrial Structures staff
• Provide technical assistance and input on projects
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) is mandatory
• Advanced understanding of concrete and steel codes, knowledge of finite element analysis, building structural design, the Ontario and National Building Codes, the building permit processes, and applicable regulations, and standards related to structural engineering projects;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with colleagues, staff, and clients, and a “team player” approach to management, design and problem solving are required.
• Experience with technical report writing
• Preferably a minimum of 10 years of experience within Structural Engineering
