Responsibilities
• Responsible for maintaining the procedures and instructions within the department.
• Develop an annual maintenance plan, ensure proper completion of scheduling of major plant projects, plant shutdown maintenance program, quoting of estimated hours of downtime required for repairing breakdowns, and provide necessary updates to facility management.
• Ensures procedures are in place to properly expedite lead-time items with suppliers and responsible for an inventory control system with maximum and minimum limits for all plant equipment.
• Oversee the implementation of ongoing and preventative maintenance
• Authorizes all maintenance-related purchase orders.
• Responsible for the scheduling and assigning of daily duties of all employees in the department and reviews completed work for conformance to standards and to ensure production is on schedule.
• Recommends outside contractors as required. Ensure compliance of all maintenance personnel in regard to the scheduling of outside contractors within the Company guidelines.
• Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions and practices to ensure the safety of the employees. Ensures that all employees know how to perform each job efficiently assigned to them and that they are fully aware of the correct and safe way to operate their equipment. Ensures that all employees are instructed on the use and compliance with Company standards on the use of personal protective equipment.
• Ensures that a proper investigation of any accident is completed and reported promptly.
• Performs workplace inspections.
• Orders parts for repair and maintenance purposes.
• Correcting substandard acts or conditions.
• Conducting information sessions (safety talks, staff meetings, tailgate meetings) incident
Qualifications
• Industrial Millwright/Mechanic trade certification, Industrial Electrician trade certification, Tool and Die trade certification, Controls Automation certification or a solid background in industrial maintenance involving electrical, hydraulic and mechanical processes would be an asset.
• Ideally have three or more years related supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to operate PC (Microsoft) based and other manufacturing related software.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation and experience in administering collective agreements would be an asset.
• Familiar with automatic production equipment, robotics, PLC’s, assembly welding and press shop operations would be an asset.
