Responsibilities
What You’ll Do Every Day
As the Weekend Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in keeping operations running smoothly. Your responsibilities include:
Oversee a team of two maintenance technicians, providing guidance, coaching, cross-training, and performance assessments. Foster a safety-first culture while ensuring adherence to productivity goals.
Work with the Maintenance Manager to set priorities, assign tasks, and ensure high-quality workmanship aligned with facility standards.
Direct maintenance activities to reduce downtime and maintain maintenance expenses within budgetary limits.
Implement and oversee the preventive maintenance program, including inspections, scheduling tasks, and ensuring all equipment is properly maintained.
Conduct mechanical rounds to inspect equipment for wear or damage. Diagnose and repair mechanical issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
Monitor working practices, enforce safety procedures, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards for employees, customers, and visitors.
Maintain optimal inventory levels to reduce costs and avoid downtime. Recommend improvements for equipment upkeep and operational efficiency.
Collaborate with management and other departments to identify and implement operational efficiency improvements.
Assist with major upgrades, and ensure compliance with plant standards.
Qualifications
What You Bring
Certification: Journeyperson or Red Seal Millwright ticket (mandatory).
Experience: 3–5 years as a supervisor or team lead in maintenance or a related field.
Technical Expertise: Strong mechanical skills with hands-on experience in repairs, PMs, and rebuilds (no electrical skills required).
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead small teams, motivate staff, and ensure productivity.
Commitment to Safety: A track record of promoting and enforcing health and safety protocols.
