Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary contact and subject matter expert for all labor relations issues, including negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations.
• Provide expert guidance to HR Business Partners, managers, and supervisors on labor relations matters and collective agreement interpretations.
• Lead collective bargaining negotiations with union representatives and address labor-related issues effectively.
• Investigate and resolve grievances and disputes promptly, fostering a collaborative and productive workplace.
• Stay up-to-date on changes in labor laws and regulations, ensuring organizational compliance.
• Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and communications for senior management and stakeholders regarding labor relations activities.
• Support, coach, and manage the HRBP team to ensure professional development and alignment with organizational goals.
Qualifications
At least 2–3 years of proven experience in labor relations, including bargaining, grievance handling, and arbitrations.
• In-depth knowledge of Canadian labor laws, human rights, and employment legislation.
• Strong skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships at all organizational levels.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience managing and coaching team members effectively.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems (experience with Dayforce is an asset) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
