Responsibilities
Provide leaders with expert advice on handling labor relations (LR) matters and resolving grievances.
Interpret and apply collective agreement provisions to support sound decision-making.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with union representatives and management teams.
Lead grievance handling, including preparation and representation at arbitration.
Deliver impactful training sessions on LR topics, such as collective agreement interpretation, conflict resolution, and compliance with federal labor laws.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address operational challenges and recommend strategic solutions.
Support leadership in driving cultural and organizational change initiatives.
Ensure consistent communication and alignment between teams to enhance overall performance.
Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in labor relations, ideally in federally regulated or industrial sectors.
Proven expertise in managing grievance processes and preparing for arbitration.
Experience interpreting collective agreements and navigating complex employment legislation.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with unions and present cases in meetings or at the bargaining table.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Labour Relations, Human Resources, or a related field.
Master’s degree in Labour Relations or equivalent (an asset).
Skills:
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution capabilities.
Ability to manage stress and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Analytical thinking to assess operational issues and offer sustainable solutions.
Fluently bilingual (English and French).
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
