Responsibilities
• Drive the creation of Kafka platform roadmap.
• Design, build, and deploy highly scalable, available, secure Kafka Platform and components.
• Define, maintain, and prompt Kafka platform and development standards and best practices.
• As the highest level of technical escalation point, response to technical issues in professional way and timely manner.
• Produce the architecture design solution with application/platform engineer in mind, making adoption easy.
• Continuously drive improves in areas like performance, security, automation, quality, monitoring, and reliability of platforms
• Identify and anticipate top Kafka Platform architecture solutions and features to successfully meet the strategic needs of the company.
• Estimate/optimize cloud cost.
• Extensive, well-rounded background in a diverse set of messaging middleware solutions with in-depth understanding of architectures of such solutions. Examples: Kafka, RabbitMQ, IBM, OSB
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and operations
• Deep understanding of different messaging paradigms (pub/sub, queuing), as well as delivery models, quality-of-service, and fault-tolerance architectures
• Applied experience with micro-service architecture and the reactive model
• Strong background in integration patterns
• 3+ track record with Kafka technology, with hands-on production experience.
• Deep understanding of the Kafka architecture along with interplay of architecture components: brokers, Zookeeper, producers/consumers, Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams
• Strong fundamentals in Kafka administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Practical experience with how to scale Kafka, KStreams, Connector infrastructures with the motivation to build efficient platforms.
• Hands-on experience as a developer who has used Kafka API to build producer and consumer applications, alone with expertise in implementing KStreams components.
• Lean Agile mentality
• Acknowledges the presence of choice in every moment and takes personal responsibility for their actions
• Ability to create clearly defined technical documentation (ex: Technical requirements, design documentation, Architectural review materials, technology guidelines and best practices)
Qualifications
3+ years of experience working with the Kafka platform
Advanced expertise with Confluent platform management, AWS EK8s infrastructure management, Hashi corp vault, Automation, and Developer tools for Kafka
Proficient in developing scripts, preferably using python or Java to build serverless applications
Hands-on experience with building automation and applications such as account vending machine and security-oriented automation such as Hashi corp KeyVault
Extensive experience with Confluent platform, Kafka topic RBAC, ACL, SSO, resiliency, and scalability, Azure AD + Conditional Access, implementing Kafka topic and schema registry RBAC and Azure PIM + JIT.
Expert level in DevSecOps tools and processes to include, but not limited to Git, JFrog Artifactory, Jenkins and HashiCorp Products.
Working experience in Flink is a Plus
