Responsibilities
- Define and enhance various subsystems within enterprise and help shape architectural roadmap
- Perform consolidated analysis of current state multiple network systems requirements, designs, and applications
- Develop design principals and design processes based on industry best practices
- Provide consultation on the development of the detailed design, standards, implementation plans, and operations model of the RBC enterprise
- Provides integrated systems planning and recommends new or different technologies that will enhance current systems and support overall corporate and business goals
- Develop all presentations for the designs, define benefits/features/costs, and obtain executive and stakeholder buy in through effective communication and advocacy
- Create implementation and sustainability budgets and costs estimates for new and existing IT systems
- May provide limited guidance and supervision of engineers working on highly complex architecture projects
- Conduct system architecture studies of new and existing IT systems to permit development of integrated systems that operate at low cost levels
- Serve as an expert technical resource; routine accountability is for technical knowledge and advanced capabilities as a team member or as an individual contributor
- Interfaces with business areas, including high profile stakeholders, to ensure all initiatives support business strategies and goals and provide recommendations for future state
- Provide leadership and direction to IT Architects to work effectively with cross-functional teams in networking, hardware and software
Qualifications
Must-have
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant field
- 10+ years experience as an IT architect
- 10+ years management experience
- Proven knowledge of telecommunications and/or e-commerce
- Advanced knowledge of network management, engineering disciplines, and operating systems
- Experience in financial services
Nice-to-have
- Experience designing and building systems for extremely high traffic and transaction volumes
Skills & Competencies:
- Subject matter expert in designing technical solutions and seeing the plan through to production implementation
- Able to quickly and effectively gather, synthesize and drive resolution of projects in a cross-functional team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Superior documentation skills to deliver well-structured business documentation for all stakeholders
- Able to effectively persuade/influence team members, get results and follow through
- Superior ability to troubleshoot technology issues and develop solutions as needed
- Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software

- Detailed oriented with strong problem solving skills
- Results oriented
- General management and effective interpersonal skills to effectively communicate cross-functionally
