Responsibilities
• Design the data architecture, including the EDW structure, data marts, and conformed dimensions, to support reporting and analytical needs.
• Develop logical and physical data models for the EDW and data marts, ensuring they are optimized for performance and aligned with business processes.
• Plan and oversee the integration of data from various sources into the EDW, designing ETL processes that ensure data quality and consistency.
• Establish data governance policies and practices to manage data access, quality, and security throughout the project.
• Support the development, adoption, and implementation of best practices in data management, which includes data architecture, data sharing, data integration, data quality, common data, and standardized methodologies.
• Lead or assist in communicating activities surrounding the Data architecture.
• Document the data architecture, models, and processes, and ensure knowledge transfer to IT and business teams for ongoing operations and maintenance.
• Contribute to development of data sharing, data integration, data quality, common data and standardized methodologies.
• Participate in design reviews, regular or ad-hoc architectural reviews – ensuring correct interpretation of the data architecture.
• Respond to requests for extensions to the scope of the data architecture, as needed.
• Work with developers and supporting information technology (IT) resources to manage ongoing data assets and process changes, as needed.
• Work with IT and business stakeholders to ensure the data architecture meets business requirements and is aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications:
• 2 years of experience dealing with clients and explaining complex data principles in a thoughtful manner.
• 2 years of experience designing, planning, implementing, and supporting enterprise solution databases in an environment equivalent in size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
• 2 years of experience documenting enterprise solution databases in an environment equivalent in size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
• 5 years of experience in performing threat and risk assessments and presenting recommendations for risk mitigation to senior management.
• 6 years of experience with enterprise architecture principles and associated best practices, methods, standards, tools, policies, and processes.
• 6 years of experience with enterprise business intelligence and performance management products. Specifically Cognos BI Suite, Microsoft SQL Server Services, MS Power BI (Query, View) or MicroStrategy.
• 5 years of experience working directly with clients, and coordinating with both external stakeholders and internal business areas to ensure communications are relayed to all parties.
• 0.5 years of experience working with Justice Courts data marts or data warehousing.
Desirable Qualifications:
• 2 years of direct, hands-on experience with design and implementation of data security, data privacy, policies, data de-identification/anonymization, data audits/reviews, synthetic data.
• 2 years of experience and understanding of software quality assurance QA, Testing and Defect Lifecycle.
• 2 years of experience designing and implementing enterprise architecture database plans and models that help align an organization's data, information or technology with its required business capabilities in a large enterprise IT environment equivalent size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
• 2 years of experience in Agile Projects.
• 3 years of experience in using a tool for architecture models such as: PowerDesigner, ER Studio, Er-win, BPwin, Rational Rose.
• 2 years of experience providing leadership, planning, estimating, and presentations of ideas and solutions.
• 2 years of experience with building, testing and deploying Artificial Intelligence models and knowledge of Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure.
• 1 year of experience with cloud computing or big data platforms and infrastructure.
• 1 year of experience working in or for the public sector.
• 2 years of experience working with querying data with Microsoft Transact-SQL Server.
• 2 years of experience with advanced Data Warehouse and business Intelligence planning, and architecture skills in Microsoft technology stack.
