Responsibilities
- The Policy Analyst will work on global public policy issues and government affairs for Google in Canada. Key issues will include those relating to content regulation, freedom of expression, advertising, privacy, and technology policy generally.
- The Policy Analyst will work with the rest of Google’s public policy team to advance public policy positions and related activities reflecting the goals and values of the company.
- As part of a closely coordinated Canadian team, the Policy Analyst will support initiatives of central importance to Google's mission, including via public events, engagement with stakeholders and development of advocacy campaigns.
- Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Keep up to date on policy issues. First-rate personal, political, analytical, communications and government relations skills. Collaborative contributor with energy, drive, determination, and a passion for the Internet.
Top 4 Daily Responsibilities:
- Analyse government policy positions for review by Google's policy and management teams.
- Develop advocacy initiatives and work with industry and public interest partners to advance Google's policy agenda.
- Work with broad cross-functional teams to drive internal implementation of public policy initiatives.
- Act as a liaison to advise and coordinate with teams working on government-related initiatives.
Qualifications
Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Direct experience with public policy issues, and working with or in the various branches, agencies, and institutions of government.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written).
Nice to Have Skills/Qualifications:
Background with technology policy and the related policy environment.
