Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
• Assist in month end and quarter end closing activities including journal entry postings; perform bank reconciliation, and financial statements preparation
• Perform fundamental analytics of financial statements and associated reporting schedules prior to submission to mid and senior management
• Responsible for the preparation & lodgement of various regulatory returns to IIROC, OSFI, OSC, CRA (CORP, HST/GST etc) plus statutory reporting requirements
• Prepare quarter end and year end reporting schedules for the Financial Reporting group and Regulatory Reporting group
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
• Liaise with Product Control Group, Operations, and Regulatory Reporting on daily/month end
• Liaise with auditors during their examination of the relevant business lines
• Escalate any issues to line-manager and senior management that may have an adverse effect on the department’s ability to accurately perform financial reporting
Decision-making and Problem Solving
• Keep up-to-date knowledge of technical accounting, tax, and regulatory reporting requirements to better understand the Canada Finance deliverables
• Cross- training in the department to minimize risk to the organization
Risk and Control Objective
Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you do
Qualifications
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
• Qualified CA/CPA/CGA
• 3+ years of experience with financial statements reporting, auditing, and controls
• 3 + years of experience with regulatory returns to IIROC, OSFI, statutory reporting, and, CRA (T2, HST/GST)
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
• SAP, Strong PC skills (Microsoft Suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
