Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting transactions and ensure the integrity of the general ledger.
- Manage full-cycle accounting processes including month-end and year-end close.
- Prepare interim and annual financial audits in coordination with external auditors.
- Administer payroll, benefits, and pension plans, while maintaining accurate HR records.
- File HST rebate claims and provincial tax returns in compliance with current regulations.
- Oversee donation receipting and tax matters specific to registered charities.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, dashboards, and budget-to-actuals.
- Support the annual budget process and quarterly financial reporting with leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all NFP and CRA reporting requirements.
- Provide team leadership through coaching, performance management, and workflow optimization.
- Contribute to special projects and ad-hoc initiatives as required.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation (or near completion) strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of finance leadership experience in a non-profit or charitable organization.
- Familiarity with charitable tax compliance and donation receipting.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Proficient in accounting software such as Great Plains and advanced Excel skills.
