Permanent FIFO position
Rotating schedule: 6 weeks in / 2 weeks out
Salary: $60 - $65 an hour + Overtime available after 40hrs in a week
Schedule: Hours can fluctuate week to week, but the average is 60 hours per week

Responsibilities
As a Red Seal HVACR Technician working across different communities in Nunavut, a normal day would include:
Heating & HVAC System Maintenance:
- Install, repair, and maintain furnaces, boilers, and heat pumps in homes, businesses, and community buildings.
- Ensure proper operation of forced-air and hydronic (hot water) heating systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair fuel-burning appliances (oil, propane, or natural gas).
- Maintain ventilation systems to ensure proper indoor air quality.
Refrigeration & Cooling Systems:
- Install, service, and repair walk-in freezers, refrigerators, and cold storage units for food preservation.
- Service commercial HVAC/R systems in grocery stores, schools, and hospitals.
Gas Fitting & Piping Systems:
- Install and maintain fuel supply lines for heating equipment.
- Perform inspections on oil and propane tanks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Preventative Maintenance & Emergency Repairs:
- Perform regular system inspections and tune-ups to prevent breakdowns in extreme weather.
- Respond to emergency repair calls, especially during winter when heating failures can be life-threatening.
- Work in remote or fly-in locations, often requiring travel by snowmobile or aircraft.
Working in Harsh Northern Conditions:
- Adapt to limited access to parts and supplies, often requiring creative problem-solving.
- Work in extreme cold (-40°C or lower), requiring specialized tools and protective gear.
- Collaborate with local governments, housing authorities, and private businesses to support essential infrastructure.
Qualifications
What do you need for this position?
- 3+ years of technical and trade experience in commercial environments
- Red Seal certification is required
- Gas Fitter A is preferred, but "Class B" will be considered
- Able to pass a criminal background check
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a technical level
- Ability to work as a team, and independently
- Strong client focus with demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service
- Valid class 5 license and good driving record
- Must be able to physically lift up to 50lbs
