Responsibilities
As a Development Accountant in Vancouver, you will:
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of and status of all aspects of the projects in your portfolio and regularly meet with project teams
• Manage and maintain project proformas and cost reports, including cash flow projections
• Prepare and analyze monthly variance analysis on project budgets and cash flows
• Monitor, review, and reconcile budgets, holdback accounts, construction loan draw requests and invoices
• Prepare and/or review monthly loan draw package and liaise with cost consultants/lenders
• Monitor cash to ensure project has sufficient funds to satisfy payables and debt obligations
• Work closely with project teams to ensure accuracy of cost and financial reporting for projects
• Responsible for maintaining all financial records for projects within your portfolio, including:
• Review/post monthly journal entries relating to project entities
• Review monthly working paper files, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for internal and external stakeholders as required
Qualifications
The qualifications for the development accountant role are as follows:
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role
• A Professional Accounting Designation or actively pursuing
• Real Estate development accounting experience (preferred)
• Experience with Yardi or/and SAGE 300 (preferred)
• Experience with cash management, budgeting, and financial reporting
