Position: Customs Specialist
Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Brampton (hybrid)
Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities
(1) Canadian Harmonized System of Tariff Classification: Classifying goods, determining tariff treatment, USMCA and other trade agreements, valuation, and calculation of duty.
(2) Completing customs papers for import / export (orders, purchase orders, directs, samples, returns) . This includes correcting/reviewing information on invoices, BOL and other documentation to ensure products were classified correctly, and that values and quantities are correct. Remitting adjustments to UPS/CBSA as needed.
(3) Voluntary B3 - voluntarily declaring goods that were delivered without official customs release.
(4) FDA Declarations - food samples returns or food export to USA.
(5) Import/ Export permits if needed.
(6) Compliance of labels /packaging for incoming shipments
(7) Submit to customs yearly certificate of origins and maintenance of files and system compliance.
(8) Create certificate of origins based on customer’s request.
(9) Manage corrections, duty relief, duty deferral, refunds (overshipped, short shipped goods, incorrect information provided to CBSA).
(10) Manage penalties and audits.
(11) Export reporting (export declarations, B13A).
(12) Record keeping requirements import/export.
(13) Renewals of documents (bonds, USMCA, etc).
(14) Customs self-assessment (Importers, carriers, drivers, entry process and accounting, penalties).
Qualifications
(1) Spotless communication skills, written and verbal, and excellent interpersonal skills
(2) At least 3 years of experience in Customs and Freight (inbound/outbound)
(3) Experience in logistics and transportation is an asset
(4) Value asset to have a Customs Broker License to act as an in house custom broker
