Responsibilities
• Assess customer needs and provide accurate quotes and orders based on those requirements, following up to secure sales. This includes quoting on both stock and non-stock items and preparing special pricing packages.
• Accurately enter customer orders received via phone, email, or web.
• Develop a deep understanding of our products, identifying customer needs and cross-referencing competitor products, or offering alternatives when the desired product is out of stock.
• Collaborate with suppliers to source products for quotes and orders.
• Provide technical support to customers as needed, working closely with manufacturers and suppliers for assistance.
• Assist in handling overflow customer service calls and emails, supporting our teams across Canada and the US during high call volume periods.
• Provide support to the Western Territory outside sales representative.
• Develop and implement solutions to address customer issues and concerns.
• Manage large volumes of incoming calls and emails with efficiency and professionalism.
• Upsell and cross-sell products to maximize opportunities and meet customer needs.
• Oversee and collaborate with the Distribution Centre manager to ensure smooth operations of the distribution centre.
• Maintain and improve the showroom environment, ensuring it supports customer visits and pick-up activities.
• Serve as a liaison to executive leadership and the landlord, addressing issues related to the Edmonton branch (e.g., IT/Internet, phone, building maintenance).
• Perform any other job-related tasks as assigned by the Manager and management team.
Qualifications
• Completion of high school & a post-secondary education in Business Administration and/or a technical field is required.
• Knowledge of metalworking tools and products, along with strong customer service skills.
• Experience in a technical support or sales position within the distribution, metalworking or manufacturing industry is necessary.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Familiarity with Order Entry and CRM systems.
• Fluent in French would be an asset but is not required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required for normal business communication.
• At least 3-5 years’ experience in a customer service or sales position within the distribution, metalworking or manufacturing industry.
