Our client is a civil construction leader; in underground utilities, installation of tank foundations, concrete, piling, grading and paving on petrochemical sites. With over 70 years’ experience in heavy construction, they have proven reputation for a family culture. Promoting, empowering and keeping employee’s safe is a fact.

They are currently hiring a Construction Manager to join a dynamic team. This position is project based, rotational travel is required.

Position summary:
Reporting to the Operations Team, the incumbent’s prime responsibilities are to plan, organize, direct and control daily operations on the project site. This position carries primary responsibility for work force planning and execution of the project, development of project coordinators, supervision and mentorship of project staff. Projects very in size from 1 - 50 million

Essential Job Functions:

• Lead project team in cost, scheduling and performance decisions
• Promote and adhere to safety management systems
• Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to determine construction plan
• Allocate resources where appropriate to achieve project safety, schedule, cost, scope and quality objectives
• Evaluate and report project performance to management, clients and stakeholders
• Participate and conduct annual performance management reviews within area of responsibility
• Work with the superintendent to review and prepare a needs assessment of equipment and resources
• Act as primary spokesperson to represent the company scope, schedule, financial commitments and performance to clients
• Maintain client focus while achieving project and stakeholders objectives

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Work with estimators, operations, and engineering to prepare final bids
• Responsible to ensure that Safety and Environmental standards of the Company and the clients are met or exceeded
• Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with client and client’s representative
• Organizational skills with the ability to successful handle multiple activities while under pressure
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• High attention to detail

Experience and Education Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Civil Engineering Degree; Registered P.ENG with
APEGGA or Civil Engineering Technologist; Registered with ASET or Journeyman Trade Certificate
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience required, Minimum of 10 years construction experience in a supervisory capacity. Experience in earthworks and undergrounds would be an asset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Primavera 6, Harddollar, experience with Explorer Management System would be concerned an asset
