We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Technologist for a permanent position in Delta / Richmond.
Scope of Work:
-Reports to: Engineering Manager.
-This position’s primary responsibility is the designing of electrical systems for packaging machines.
-Perform all PLC and HMI programming.
-Select electrical components needed; submit order to maintain inventory.
-Assist with problem resolution, related to electrical components, during testing.
-Complete electrical BOM for custom orders.
-Keep current with PLC and HMI programming techniques.
-Oversee updates and new technology on control automation.
-Perform with final testing as needed.
-Perform with research and development of new machines as needed.
-Assist with training, mentoring and overseeing work of Electrical staff.
-Technical support for customers (via telephone, emails and field visits).
-Experience in Object based programming.
-Good documentation style.
-Accuracy of PLC and HMI programming.
-Achieve time line goals and objectives.
-Meet / exceed Canadian safety codes.
-English verbal and written communication.
-Perform in a professional manner with the ability to multi-task and attention to detail.
-Other duties which fall within the employee’s capabilities.
-Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma.
-Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role.
-Industrial wiring/electrical code knowledge an asset.
-Electrical course pertaining to PLC, HMI, Servo and VFD.
-Knowledge/ability to create wiring schematics with Solidworks like CAD software.
-Proven ability to communicate with other colleagues regarding the understanding of PLC, HMI, Servo, Industrial communication network and VFD related topics.
-Hands on experience of prototype programming.
-Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Word.
-Strong electrical control system interpreting and documentation skills.
-Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
-Experience working with pneumatic control system is an asset.
-Excellent English language skills required (verbal and written).
-Excellent communications and presentation skills, with ability to span both highly technical and non-technical audiences.
-Excellent prioritization skills with minimal guidance and direction.
-Ability to effectively work as part of a cross-functional and/or cross-technology team.
