One of our clients, located in Scarborough, is looking for a Human Resource Generalist to build the organization’s HR infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have solid generalist experience, ideally in small to medium sized companies. This is a great opportunity to support a well-established growing business. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to plant some roots and grow within their role.
More precisely, your principal responsibilities will be the following:
- HR Policies – create new and update existing HR policies, communicate all changes to the employees
- Health and Safety – keep H&S processes current and ensure compliance, stay up to date with legislations and Occupational Health & Safety regulations
- Recruitment – full cycle - attracting and identifying and sourcing talent, conducting interviews, preparing offer letters, working with staffing agencies
- Talent management – leadership and employee development, succession planning, coordinating training, employee engagement
- Performance management – performance reviews, acting as an advisor to managers on performance issues, work with managers to develop performance plans
- Employee Relations - develop and maintain employee relations, develop and implement engagement strategies, analyze trends within departments and advise managers on ways to build and maintain solid teams
- Management Relations -support HR requirements of managers, develop relationships and trust in order to act as an advisor
- HR administration – maintaining employee files, reporting, tracking attendance
- Other HR functions – benefits administration, researching benefit providers, other projects as needed
Requirements:
- University Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience, CHRP is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist
- Experience in an assembly or distribution environment is an asset
- Strong understanding of how HR can impact the business
- Results driven and able to work independently
- Willing to provide support to other departments as needed
- Ability to quickly build relationships with employees and managers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid knowledge of employment legislation and Occupational Health & Safety
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to use good judgment
- Self starter, flexible, positive attitude and a hands-on focus
