Senior Superintendent required for a landmark Vancouver project. This is a national construction company with an extensive pipeline of projects, exceeding several $billion in value. The company is well-established and has solid long-term strategic growth plans.
Working with the Vancouver team, and reporting to the Vice President, you will have experience managing projects exceeding $150m in value, as you will assume a senior leadership role.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Oversee all employees and sub-contractors/trades personnel
- Effectively manage and motivate job site workforce; including employees and sub-contractors/trades personnel to complete their portion of the work safely and on time and to also continue working towards providing high quality work standards
- Control equipment and materials to attain targeted profits while adhering to specifications and plans
- Achieve and document project schedule milestones by looking forward and implementing corrective action where necessary
- Develop schedules and construction sequencing in conjunction with the Project Director
- Expedites the resolution of any problems or conflicts that arise in such a way that neither the schedule nor the level of quality for the project is compromised
- Monitor the progress on site and oversee all project documentation including detailed daily site reports, progress photographs and drawings etc.
- Advises managers of anticipated problem areas and initiates corrective action
- Maintains good working relationships with clients, consultants, inspectors, sub-contractors/trades and co-workers
- Generally lead, direct and multi-task
Requirements for the role:
- More than 10 year’s industry experience
- Managed projects exceeding $150m in value
- Commercial, Institutional or Residential project experience
- Skills in carpentry, concrete formwork and finishing
- Proven OH&S understanding and high commitment to OH&S best practice
- Proven track record for timely completions and budget/forecast success
- Ability to read drawings and specifications to visualize the work entailed and to prepare a detailed plan to execute work in an efficient manner
- Ability to prepare schedules and to track progress against work schedules as the work proceeds
- Strong problem solving, decision making and communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to understand cost reports and to forecast future costs
- Highly organized and achievement oriented with a strong personal drive
- Intelligent, reliable and trustworthy, with good judgment and sound ethics
