Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the Corporate Accountant is a key member of the Finance leadership team, overseeing all aspects of financial accounting and external reporting.
-Oversee the preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations
-Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
-Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
-Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, providing insights and recommendations to management to improve financial results
-Manage the preparation and maintenance of the annual budget, including working with department heads to develop accurate revenue and expense projections
-Collaborate with other departments to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and revenue growth
-Supervise the accounting team, including coaching and mentoring staff, providing guidance and support on complex accounting issues, and ensuring timely and accurate completion of all accounting activities
-Assist with the implementation and maintenance of financial systems, processes, and controls
-Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management
- All other related tasks
Qualifications
-Bachelor degree in finance or accounting with a CPA designation considered an asset
-Strong public company experience with IFRS reporting experience considered an asset
-Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and insights from financial data
-Exceptional communication in French and English and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders
-Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure, ever changing environment
